Short Bio

Tim Lyles is a guitarist and instructor in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area— teaching both full-time at McNally Smith College of Music and privately in several locations. After coming of age in the Memphis music scene, he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis in Music and Media. He recently completed his master’s degree in Guitar Performance from McNally Smith. Tim’s career has encompassed producing/arranging/engineering and performing in recording studio environments, work in television and film production, and a decade of touring the U.S. with a 14-piece horn band. His devotion to a broad range of guitar styles— from roots music and rock to jazz and classical—informs his eclectic musical endeavors and produces a body of work that doesn’t fit neatly into conventional categories.
